Minimum Wage
Qatar's minimum wage is QAR 1,000/month basic wage + QAR 500 food allowance + QAR 500 housing allowance for those not provided accommodation/food.
Working Hours
Maximum 8 hours/day, 48 hours/week. During Ramadan, maximum 6 hours/day. Overtime must be paid at 125% of regular rate. Friday is the weekly rest day.
Annual Leave
3 weeks paid annual leave after 1 year. After 5 years, 4 weeks/year. Employer must provide a return air ticket to Sri Lanka every 2 years.
Medical Care
Employer must provide free medical care. You can use your QID to access discounted healthcare at Hamad Medical Corporation public hospitals.
Illegal Deductions
Employers CANNOT deduct wages for sick leave, work equipment costs, or as punishment. Report illegal deductions to the Ministry of Labour (hotline: 16008).
